A masterpiece of minimalist mystery drama. The Clovehitch Killer utilizes a simple but original premise to execute with great skill a riveting story.
For those curious and who might think if this has anything to do with the Cloverfield series (rest assured it doesn’t), the premise explores what if you suspected your Dad might be a serial killer? Set amongst the backdrop of a small American Christian community, one unfortunate teenage son has to deal with such a question.
What follows is not only a fascinating story which has disturbing overtones but one that also is surprisingly filled with genuinely hilarious moments. This is a film that continued to entertain me on more levels than one and I couldn’t have been happier.
Thankfully The Clovehitch Killer is out on Netflix in the United States (unfortunate for those in Australia) but still this is a film that deserves more attention. Look out for a release near you because I had a blast watching it. See it.
